Other Boys NYC
A new documentary series, "Other Boys NYC," highlights the lives and identities of 50 gay and trans men of color living in New York City.
During the past two decades there have been not only dramatic shifts in public attitudes toward LGBT people and issues (Gallup 2015), but also an emergence of research from multiple and diverse fields that has created what is now a solid foundation of knowledge regarding mental health in LGBT youth. Public attitudes and issues related to the transgender community, for example, are social determinants of health and mental health in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Youth. Issues faced by young people in the transgender community and young people of color are definite stressors that impact mental health status. This documentary addresses the intersections of experience by young people who are transgender and people of color and the need to feel less isolated in our communities by identifying with people who have similar stories.
