Darrin L. Harris- STAR of the Month

Darrin L. Harris began Ekhaya Youth Project, Inc. – a non-profit that serves and supports youth and their families. In 2014, Darrin L. Harris expanded the mental health component of the organization by providing clinical support services through the Ekhaya Fresh Start Behavioral Health Program.  Darrin has engaged thousands of youth and their families through Ekhaya Youth Project’s energetic and culturally congruent messages and supports. He has developed a leadership institute, social media platforms, music labels and is now an author, in order to continue sharing what he has learned and continues to learn. His ever present humility and passion comes through in the great interview he offered to us.

STAR Center in Action- August 2016

Welcome to the August edition of the STAR Center Newsletter! The STAR Center was in Columbus, Ohio last month for a national meeting convened by Youth M.O.V.E. National and FREDLA (The Family Run Executive Director Leadership Association). They held a meeting for youth and families leaders to come together from across the country to focus on Aligning the Movements: How Family and Youth Organizations Can Work Together to Further Their Movements. Members from both organizations had the opportunity to connect and learn from one another on how to better partner, coordinate their efforts and work together to support youth and family voice. Thank you to all the staff, youth, and family leaders who were involved for inviting the STAR Center to participate and contribute.
