Youth United 4 Change: #YU4Change

Youth United For Change is a short video developed by the Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery, in collaboration with the STAR Center, showcasing common challenges faced by culturally diverse youth in their journey towards wellness recovery. We have developed this companion toolkit to help you plan a video talk circle event.

Representatives from over 20 nationally recognized peer mental health and addiction service agencies were able to participate in a March 25, 2014 ACMHA Peer Leaders Seminar that preceded the 2014 Annual ACMHA Summit in Santa Fe, New Mexico. During the day-long program, they shared common concerns that have helped to inform this ACMHA Peer Services Tool Kit, which is aimed at

  • supporting efforts to advocate and expand the capacity, capability and scope of peer services while
  • providing valuable background information for federal, state and local governments and for new payers.

Justice-involved consumers have expressed a need to have resources and materials that will assist them in making informed decisions about their futures. Although justice-involved consumers experience many of the same challenges that other consumers do; justice-involved consumers have a unique set of challenges and barriers that they must successfully overcome in their recovery journeys. Unfortunately, many are unprepared for challenges and are often unaware of the resources and strategies that are at their disposal to successfully overcome these challenges.
